I use a few simple pillows that match or contrast with my other furniture, but then I go crazy with textures and patterns and materials. Imix and embroidered cushions vintage Sari with recycled materials. I have several show stopping pillows quite expensive because of the amount of work into their creation WAS, but they were all worth it, because all formatting of comments on how it affects you.
